Today the next four trainees successfully finished the first part (NEXT-1) of their training as part of the training and validation program for surveillance operations in Namibia.
Ladies first – mrs Sarafina Maxwanu and mrs Christine Eiman. Gratulations!
And two gentlemen – mr Ben Engelbrecht and mr Hendrik Barens. Well done!
This exam means a break in the NEXT-1 training. The plan is that the ten controllers that now has completed NEXT-1 will be the first surveillance controllers in Namibia.
On Monday the NEXT-2 will start. This is a simulator training where the knowledge from NEXT-1 will be used to handle traffic in Namibian airspace using surveillance control. We hope to see four controllers in the simulator every day Monday-Friday until we start the surveillance control at the beginning of December.
After that the rest of the ACC controllers will be trained in NEXT-1 and NEXT-2 before we start the next phase – implementation of surveillance approach control.
