In the “safety case” for the launch of Surveillance Approach Services in the Windhoek TMA it states that there is a need for seven Approach rated controllers. If you remember three passed their exams last Friday and today we saw the exams of another four. They are:
Mrs Christine Eiman
Mrs Philippine Lundama
Mr George Matroos
Mr Ben Engelbrecht
So, the Namibian controllers are ready for the launch!
This evening also saw a “Hangar talk” in facilities generously made available by the Windhoek Flight Training Centre. This gave a large number of pilots the opportunity to learn about airspace changes coming, the surveillance equipment and the surveillance procedures to be used.
So for now it seems we are just waiting for the management decision…
